Rating: between Kids and Teens
I hate fairies.
I know, you´re probably thinking, "Hey, what´s so bad about fairies? They´re pretty cool, right?" Well, I´ve got news for you. Now, I´m not against all fairies, but these particular ones are a pretty big pain in the neck. I mean, when someone steals all of your leftover banana peels you were gonna use to fight evil demons with, it can be pretty bothersome.
Oh, why are banana peels a weapon against demons? Uh, that´s a pretty long story. But I can tell you what´s going on right now. You see, me and my friend, Flare, are going on this quest to save my twin sister, the princess. She´s pretty stupid. She thought a nasty dragon-man was a commercial cosmetologist selling the newest makeup. Yeah, pretty stupid.
So anyway, Flare and I were trying to get into the Black Forest to ward off some demons and maybe get some supplies they´re probably carrying, but we were oh-so rudely interrupted by a brew of earth fairies raiding our magic banana peels. They probably would´ve gotten away with it, but Flare is really paranoid in his sleep and thinks everything is out to get him, and he is very possessive of his teddy bear he has to keep whenever he goes ´nighty-nigh-
Ow! Okay okay, sorry Flare, whatevs. You can take the lead from here.
Sorry about my annoying partner over there. Ara is pretty dumb like her sister sometimes. And could we just forget about the teddy bear part? Ok, thanks.
What are you looking at me like that for? There is nothing wrong with a 14 boy sleeping with a teddy bear. Don´t judge
As I was saying, Ara and I are on a quest to go look for her stupid sister, again.
It gets kind of annoying. She´ll go on her enchanted ocarina and signal for help, and she wants it to be this big show whenever we go and save her. In fact it gets so big sometimes other kingdoms hear the signal. At first, all of the kingdoms would be alarmed whenever she was "kidnapped" but now it´s just a case of ´The Boy who Cried Wolf´. I swear, they don´t even bat an eye anymore. I think she summons us to get our names out? Marketing? Or something...
Anyway, to be on a quest you have to be an Elemental, that is, a half human/half immortal being of the Elements, like Fire, Water, Ice, Wind, Earth, etc.
There aren´t a lot of us around like there used to be. We´re usually reincarnated after we die. Ara and I are the same age, so something bad probably happened to both of us in our past lives. Ara´s skills are a lot more advanced than mine, but I´m still pretty strong.
Stop rolling your eyes Ara!
Ara and I are the only Elementals from this kingdom, Mara. The only other Elementals we´ve seen are Ice and Night. Khione is the Ice one, who´s a bit older than us, and Luna, Night, who´s like, twenty-five.
Luna is scary. Do not mess with Luna.
All the other Elementals are from pretty far off kingdoms, much farther than we could travel. For some reason Ara´s sister May asked us to find more Elementals for this quest. Khione and Luna teamed up for some other quest up North, so we were pretty stumped. What does May want with like four Elementals?
Ara and I are in some weird village next to the Black Forest, and I´m gonna be pretty straightforward with this. It´s a dump. There are a bunch of hobos and pubs in this village, and that´s about it. The streets of full of horse, uh, y´know, and there are so many trees you can´t even see the sky above. We were sleeping by some oak trees at the edge of town, at least until we were woken up.
"Hey! Get back here!" Ara gritted her teeth. "I hate fairies! I hate them! Ugh, how are we going to get all of that back now? We needed that stuff, Flare! Flare, hello? Flare! Pay attention!"
Flare did not reply. Ara sighed heavily. This boy was going to be th death of her. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
"FLARE WAKE UP STOP STANDING THERE WE´VE GOT THINGS TO DO FLAAAARRREEEE~~~"
Still no reply.
Frustrated, Ara stomped her foot. Why was he so dazed? Wait a minute... She looked up to see tiny figures in green dresses and blonde hair twiddling their fingers above Flare.
"What are you doing? Get your filthy spells off of my Flare!" Ara swatted at the air above him, like the fairies were mosquitos and not powerful beings.
A few scattered off, surprisingly, but two stayed. "Get out!" Ara hollered. "We´re kind of in a rush...!"
A bright flash of golden light shimmered up in front of Ara´s eyes. Immediately, two beautiful girls roughly her age appeared in front of her. They had a tinker-bell-like appearance, but more feminine and grown up. One had her hair put up in a signature bun, and the other had hers down in a side braid. Their blonde hair shone like gold.
"I am so-soso-so-so-sooooo sorry about my friends!" The taller one with the braid nudged at the other. "They can just cause sooooo much trouble sometimes-"
Ara and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, thanks. Could you do me a favor and, I dunno, fix him? He´s kind of, stuck?" She tapped her foot,
"Oh, um, totally!" The braided one replied. Her ´friend´ rolled her eyes, shrank back to her original form, and flew off.
The leftover smiled shyly. "Sorry about them, I´ve known them for about, like, a week? I don´t know my way around these woods, so they offered to show me my way back home in trade of my belongings. They´ll probably be back any minute."
*Spoiler: they didn´t come back...*
The fairy sighed and leaned back against the tree, defeated.
"I don´t get it! What did I do? That map I gave them was my only way back home..."
She made puppy dog eyes at Ara.
"Could I, maybe, travel with you...?"
Ara didn´t reply.
"If you let me, I´ll fix your boyfriend," she suggested.
Ara´s defensively rose to the top of her feet.
"H-he´s not my boyfriend!"
"Sure..." The fairy smirked. "Don´t worry, I´ll fix him up."
She opened the palm of her hand and held it out in front of her, then placed it to the ground. Golden trails of light encircled her, making her literally glow.
Ara sat dumbstruck. She had only seen that kind of magic a few times before. This fairy was an Elemental? How was that even possible? She wasn´t even human. There must some kind of mistake, maybe-
"There you go," she smiled warmly.
Flare jolted awake.
"This is why I can´t trust you to keep my st- hey? Where´re our supplies?! My teddy bear was in there." Flare frantically searched the area. "How am I supposed to sleep tonight?!"
Ara sighed. "This is my idiot friend, Flare. And you are-?"
"My name is Aurum Terrae. But you can call me Aurum."
