It was the day I dreaded on the twentieth of July. It was
the day I would have my chip inserted, as each sixteen year old would have on
Dead Day. Dead Day is where a pair of Unfortunates, a male and a female, get
chosen by a random chip in someone’s arm sends a signal. Winter Waspway, the
Head of the Blood Box, would insert chips into each new sixteen year old, and
send a signal to a random chip in someone’s arm from the age of 16 to 21. Luckily, your chip gets removed when you are 22. When
a random male and random male chip sends a signal, Winter Waspway releases the
serotonin that’s installed in each chip into every possible Unfortunate, which
sends them into an immediate and inevitable slumber. Then, the two Unfortunates
who possess the chip that sent the signals are brought to the Blood Box in
their unnatural sleep- and wake up in the Blood Box.
Need I say more than the name? The Blood Box is, quite
frankly, living hell. And I’m not overreacting. It’s a nine-by-nine foot metal
box hundreds of feet under the ground. No way in, no way out. But anything could
be in there. Anything could come. Winter Waspway and his staff find some way to
teleport some sort of grotesque mutation into the place, or maybe a fire or a
rising flood. Either way, it either tortures you or drives you to insanity- but
it never, ever kills you. That’s the horrible part...the ‘fun’ of watching
people in the Blood Box is that they will kill themselves, or slowly and
eventually, they will finally succumb to the claws of death.
The Blood Box event is every four years. Many go in, but very
rarely, someone comes out. The Unfortunates are let out of the Blood Box after
a month, but are often not found. There is a small, narrow passageway in a wall
in the box that leads to a heart-stopping pit, writhing with bloodthirsty
hounds. That’s the main purpose of the Blood Box- to feed the demons of earth,
which are needed for war and such. But it’s televised merely for the money and
for the amusement of most the world’s population. I know a couple of people who
went in, but none are around today to speak of the horrors the Blood Box
